Car Insurance 101
Oregon's consumer information bulletin on automobile insurance makes an excellent teaching/learning tool. The basic concepts are presented, along with several graphs which illustrate how premiums are affected by the insured, by different companies, by different zip codes. The specific premiums are not important; the effect of circumstances is. While states can differ widely in specific legal requirements, the basic concepts do not. This is an excellent site for high school teachers of civics or economics.
